This equipment is used to study and understand the principles of water retention in soil suction, the relationship between water retention and soil, and the derivation of soil moisture characteristic curves. The device is large enough to evaluate multiple samples simultaneously, and consists of a suction system, a soil container and a control unit:
-Suction system: It consists of a water circuit, which includes a water tank, a computer-controlled pump, a jet pump, a pressure sensor and a flow sensor. The pump pushes the water out of the water tank and circulates it through the jet pump. The water spray pump sucks the water in the water tank.
-Soil container: It consists of a cylindrical container filled with saturated sand (not provided), which contains 2 soil sample fixing rings. Place a soil sample and water sensor in the sand. Provide a cover to prevent the loss of evaporated water
In actual practice, several filters can prevent sand particles from entering the water tank. Soil container includes pressure sensor
The air inlet (pressure inlet) is used to study the influence of atmospheric pressure. The soil sample placed on the sand is aspirated. The suction force is applied by the water jet pump and the water pump. In order to maintain suction, a large amount of water is needed.
Computer control unit: It is used to control the operation of the water pump, and collect system flow, soil moisture, pressure and other parameter changes.
Aluminum profile structure, layout is easy to observe.
Equipped with a control unit to facilitate experimental operation.
